New Lilly Pulitzer Fall Releases

I feel like every preppy girl's heart skips a beat when Lilly Pulitzer has new releases. Please tell me I am not the only one!!! Once I saw the new fall collection I fell madly (and I mean MADLY) in love with the clothes. We have all been obsessing over palm leaves for quite some time now- Lilly has made it perfect. The bright colors we all love - Lilly has made it perfect as usual. Amazing blue colors- Lilly has made it perfect. So what have we learned class??? Repeat after me- "Lilly Pulitzer makes everything perfect". Class dismissed...

Today I wanted to brighten (get it because they use bright colors... I'm not clever) your morning and share some of my favorites from the new collection with y'all.

Sneaky SPF

Just because summer is wrapping up (I'm sorry I mentioned it) doesn't mean we should be putting away the SPF. We should be protecting our skin all year round, because even when the sun is not out those pesky UV rays still are. Today I wanted to share with you some products that have sunscreen built right into them. I was surprised at the array of products I found from makeup, to hair products, even clothing! I hope you all enjoy and find this helpful!

1. Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible OilThis spray-on oil softens, detangles, and de-frizzes hair all while protecting against heat styling and UV damage.

2. BareMinerals 5-in-1 BB Cream Shadow- This creamy long-wearing shadow gives you great skincare benefits and SPF protection. SPF- 15

3. BareMinerals Correcting ConcealerThis concealer hides dark spots and discoloration while protecting your skin from the sun. SPF- 20

4. Lipstick Queen Endless Summer Lipstick in Perfect WaveThis moisturizing and vibrant lipstick will play double duty- making you look cute and keeping you protected. SPF- 15

5. Softlips Lip ProtectantThis ultra moisturizing lip balm will make your lips crazy soft, and insure they won't get burned. SPF- 20

6. Clinique Even Better MakeupForgot to put sunscreen on this morning? No problem! This foundation will even out your skin tone over time and keep you protected today. SPF- 15

7. Revlon ColorStay FoundationThis super long wearing foundation won't just keep your makeup in place but your sunscreen will stay on as well! SPF- 6

Honorable Mention- Parasol Clothing

While I think the prices are a little high they have really come up with a great idea- SPF clothing! They have clothes and bathing suits that have sun protection built right into them. I think that is a pretty neat idea!

Do y'all have any favorite products with SPF in them?

Who made it- Satsuki Shibuya

"It doesn't matter what others are doing. It matters what YOU are doing."

This has basically been my motto all summer. Many kids in my grade were getting internships at lawyers offices and with doctors their freshman year! #prepschoolprobs I felt like I should be doing something more to better my future, but honestly I live in a part of Texas where fashion is not a big deal. There truly was nothing I could do. I had to tell myself that I only need to be concerned with what I am doing, and starting my blog will better my future!

Task for week 3- Stop worrying about what others are doing, and do something today that will help you tomorrow.

What are y'all doing to help your future?

Friday Favorites

Bloggers, I have a question for all of you. Do you ever feel like your real life and your blogging life are completely separate and kind of going separate ways? For example, this week my real has been super boring, but in my blogging life I wrote new posts, joined a new blogging community, and talked with a lot of girls who blog and are super sweet and friendly! Anyway in my free time this week I have been browsing Pinterest and Tumblr and fell in love with a few things!

One::  Tassel shorts

615d4052fd62668dd7b23dc9b2df2327

Do not get me wrong I love the pom-pom shorts, but I think this new twist is perfection! Tassels are a big trend right now and putting them on shorts is so cute and kind of unexpected.

Two:: Elie Saab

bfaf7114ebaad8d4211ea457b167081f

Does anybody else like looking at things they could never afford? I love looking at high fashion dresses on Pinterest! My favorite designer is probably Elie Saab. Every single dress is perfect and just looks like a dream!

Three:: Swirls of Sass Dress

69782ca8195c0b8e0b6adc3a51be21b6

Speaking of dresses, I pinned this one last week and can't stop looking at it. I love the neckline in the front and print all over. Now only if I had somewhere to wear it to... Want to follow me on Pinterest click here.

Four:: Loren Hope Jewelry

c1c27e9763e793ccab64fc382f832db0

Talk about flawless!! I haven't found a piece of her jewelry I don't love. The vibrant colors of the gems mixed with the nice brass metal- gorgeous!

Five:: Hydrangeas

tumblr_mulnjcZZG71r0jyyso1_500

Hydrangeas have to be my second favorite flower following peonies. They come in so many colors and look so nice wherever you put them. I also think they are the perfect mix of formal and casual.

Fab Girl Bloggers

imageedit_3_5266713347

Hi Ladies! I wanted to share with you all an amazing new blogging community I just joined and am super excited about. It was all started by the fabulous Ashley Mason aka Private School Prepster. She noticed how there was a lack of blogging groups for young girls ages 13-22, and she is absolutely right! Of course, any young blogger can join just head over to The Fab Girl Bloggers website and fill out the form on the join page! Once you go to the website you will notice that there are three really unique features:

One- Events

There is a whole page on the website where you can post if you want to do a blogger meet up, or any type of event. Which makes it very easy for us to connect if we live close to each other!

Two- Submit Posts

There is another page where you can submit some of your favorite posts you have written. This is another great way for us to promote our blogs, connect, and see what is going on in each other's lives.

Three- Brands

Ashley is also hoping to be able to do reviews, giveaways, and sponsored posts with brands. If you ladies know of any brands you think would be interested feel free to tell them about the website so they can go on and check it out!

This is the very beginning of a group so remember it is still growing and changing! I think it is pretty exciting to get in on the start of something, so head over and check it out!

Adorable Signs For Your Room

As I write this it is 2 o'clock in the morning! I was in the middle of watching Hitch on Netflix when I suddenly had the burning desire to put up a quick blog post. So, here we are...

As I said in my last post I am in the process of redoing my room, and tonight we hung up the first thing on my newly painted wall. Well re-hung-up, (it was on the old wall but hey, it changed placement)! Alas, I was inspired to find some more cute wall decorations and make this post for y'all. Hope you enjoy!

I had to add a monogram in there because I wouldn't be southern if I didn't! These come in the cutest colors and look very nicely made. Buy here

Life Update

I am so happy to be back!!! To y'all it seems like I was never gone, but I haven't been on here for a week. I figured I would go ahead and give y'all a little life update. I thought I could do these periodically do give you all a little insight into my life. So, this may be pretty random, but I am just writing stuff as it comes to me.

I would first like to say that Boy Meets World is the best TV show ever, and I still watch it whenever I can. Anyway, I was at the beach this past week, and that is why I wasn't on the blog. My very best friend Katherine went with me and despite the rain we actually had a lot of fun. The good thing about it being overcast was we really didn't get burned. Well I did after Katherine left on Saturday. I literally have a Sperry burn on my feet! I did want to share one thing with you though. Katherine and I met this really nice boy at the beach who invited us to his families bonfire that night, and I have to tell you they had built the coolest thing out of the sand. They said they just searched sand pit couch on Pinterest and this popped up. It took them about five hours to make, but I have to say it turned out really nice.  Here is a picture of it from Pinterest and some more pictures from the beach:

IMAG0952_1

While I was at the beach Lizzie's mom texted me and wanted to know if I wanted a backpack they had ordered that was too big for Lizzie. Of course I said absolutely because God knows I need a new backpack. I had to laugh at the picture she sent me because the backpack is almost as big as Lizzie!

20140718_151725

Now I hate to do this but let's talk school for a minute. I am going to be a sophomore next year and to be honest I'm nervous. I think I'm more nervous this year then I was to be a freshman. To give you a little background on my school, I go to a very small, like less than 450 kids, private school. There are less than 100 kids in my grade, and I came from the largest feeder school, so going into freshman year I knew I would have people I knew in abut every class. This year I am just nervous about the academic side of things and trying to balance everything. I am taking Pre-AP classes, taking four dance classes, assisting with two dance classes, writing for the Smart Girls Group blog aka The Loop, writing for Smart Girls Group Smart Mail, writing my own blog, being active in clubs at school, and trying to keep a social life. The good thing is I like to stay busy! Are any of you nervous about school next year?

On to a more interesting topic, we are in the middle of re-doing my room. We have repainted my wall, moved out a bookshelf, and built a new nightstand. When my room is completely done I will put up a post and plenty of pictures for y'all.

IMAG0954

I also wanted to share with y'all two fun Linkups I will be participating in in early August.

Pattern Party Linkup on August 5th hosted by The Trendy Chick.

Back to Beauty Linkup on August 9th hosted by Prep on a Budget and Memphis Made.

Also, any young Bloggers should check out Private School Prepster's new blogging community- Fab Girl Bloggers

Finally, I have really exciting news!! Soon I will have a coupon code for Shop Fishie just for my lovely readers!!!!

Sunday Reflections

415eb17f3d25aba5471c0ae8b997f7c0

Never lose your sense of wonder.

I have a huge desire to travel, and see the world, and really just all life has to offer. I am just in wonder and awe of how amazing and beautiful our world can be. I really hope I never become "hard" and forget about how amazing things are. I obviously want to travel now and when I am older. I just really hope that desire is still there when I am older and retired.

Task for week 2- Relax by looking at some of your old vacation pictures, or spent time thinking of your dream vacation on Pinterest.

Preppy In Pink

love this outfit!!! I didn't have my blog when I bought the skirt, but I knew I wanted to share it with y'all. I actually wore this to church Saturday and got quite a few complements on it, so I am feeling pumped about this post. Anyway, other than that I don't have much to say about this. Who actually said it- Victoria McGinley

Where can you buy this print- The Everygirl

"Stop making excuses and just do things."

Ah yes, the classic, yet very inspirational, don't be scared just do it quote. I must admit this is easier said then done. I have said before that I am an over thinker, and while sometimes this can be good, it also can be detrimental. I often times tell myself that I need to stop worrying about the outcome of something and just go for it! I also need to stop making excuses and tell myself, "oh I will do that another time", when I should just do it now.

Task for week 1- Do one thing you would normally talk yourself out of (as long as it is not a bad thing).

Are any of you over thinkers?

An Intro To Sunday Reflections

By now you have probably read the title and think I am crazy because it is Saturday, not Sunday. (I'm not crazy I promise!) I wanted today to do a very quick intro to my new Sunday Reflections series. I am trying to think ahead to the school year and work out a posting schedule, and I am thinking I may post during the week then take off weekends. As I thought about that more I really wanted to try and get up a small post, either Saturday, or Sunday - thus Sunday Reflections is born.

I love Pinterest. (I swear this makes a connection!) One of my favorite boards on Pinterest is my Words of Wisdom board. Sunday Reflection will be a quick post that goes up Sunday night, and consists of a quote or saying that I truly love and inspires me. I will then reflect on said quote. I hope this will be a nice way for me to still be present on my blog during the weekends, and a nice way for y'all to end your Sunday.

Oh! On the weekends I will still be on all my other social media sites of course!       Pinterest      Tumblr       Twitter

Friday Favorites

Wow, I can't believe it is time for another Friday Favorites! I haven't done too much this week, but for some reason it seemed pretty crazy. We painted my room and bathroom this past weekend, which I will show y'all when it is truly completed. I also hung out with some friends, some that I see all the time, some I hadn't seen since school ended, and one I hadn't seen since October so that was pretty great! I hope you enjoy!

1. Smart Girls Group Conference- I would like to start with the true highlight of my week- The Smart Girls Group Conference. I wasn't able to actually go to New York and be there, so I was thrilled when I heard they would be live streaming the event. I was able to see a few speakers and panels and it was truly inspiring!

2. Smart Mail- On the topic of Smart Girls Group I recently joined the Style Editorial section for Smart Mail. I have been writing for their blog, Smart Girl's Loop, for a few months now and was thrilled to be doing more for them.

3. Capuchina Dress from anthropologie- I saw this maxi dress while browsing the anthropologie website and fell in love. I think this dress would be so great for summer, and I am loving that gorgeous blue right now.

4. Oreo Cheesecake Bites- Let us all take a moment of silence to drool over how delicious these look. I mean what could be better??? I may just have to make these soon...

5. This quote- I think about my future everyday, or at least what I hope it will be, and it gets me very motivated! As long as a have a goal or a dream I will never stop working towards it.

6. Rose Print Jackie Capri by Kate Spade- I am usually not a big pattern person, especially on pants, but for some reason I love these! I would never buy them (way too expensive), but it never hurts to look at them right?

I am starting a new little thing to put at the end of my Friday Favorites post, and it is a list of all the posts from the past week. The week will be starting the Saturday after the last Friday Favorites and going until this post.
